CSAs, Local Food Co-ops, Farm Fresh Grocery Stores & Delivery

The midwest, and even Chicago, has a large variety of local famers and growers who supply meat, produce, and greens to the surrounding community in the form of co-ops, farm fresh grocery stores, and CSAs. Purchasing from local farms is a great way to support local businesses while minimizing the environmental impact of the food you consume.

Farmer’s Markets and Delivery

  • Find all Farmer’s Markets near you at the Find Food IL Community Food Map by UIUC. The map also indicates where SNAP and WIC are accepted. Additionally, WBEZ put together their own map, 2023 WBEZ guide to summer farmers markets in Chicago and the suburbs.

  • Link Up Illinois - Has a map of farmer’s markets participating in the Link Up program, which is doubling the value of Link purchases at farmers markets, farm stands, food co-ops, and independent grocery stores.

  • You can also grow your own, even if you don’t have a yard! Find out more on our Lawn, Garden, and Wildlife page.

  • Closed Loop Farms - Want fresh greens and other add-on items delivered to your door each week, in a box that is continually reused by the service? Their produce is grown right here in Back of the Yards.
